Day centres and temporary shelter
If your life and the lives of your children are in danger, call the police – 112 or seek help at the centres that provide protection and temporary shelter. You can receive support, information and a number of services there. For example, some of them provide psychological counselling, personal security planning assistance, legal counselling (and sometimes representation in court), help to obtain the allowances and the alimony, seek a job and a place to stay, provide training for getting a profession and childcare and other. Counselling can be provided for short or long time. Lawyers/legal experts could accompany you to the hospital and/or courtroom.
The centres that provide temporary shelter are a good first step for people considering leaving an abusive situation, initiating a case against the perpetrator, making a safety plan or just understanding whether the partner’s behaviour is abusive.
